I have been teaching privately for 10 years with students going on to Oberlin, USC, UCSC, and UC Irvine.
I focus on music fundamentals, groove playing, jazz theory, ear training, reading , and composition; all as one complete package. These are the things that will take you further. I also like to work with students on any music that they like, to help with their self-motivation. (I have students working on everything from Neil Young, to Tool, to Jaco Pastorius)
I hold my MFA from CalArts and have had the chance to study with some truly amazing bassists such as Jeff Berlin, Gary Willis, Charlie Haden, Alphonso Johnson and Dave Carpenter. I have extensive playing experience in almost every style of music, with a slant towards improvisation, jazz, and rock. I can help you become a better player, all you need is enthusiasm.
Lessons are $35/hour at my place or $60/hour at your place (10 mile radius)
